Tony Bonanno is a professional photographer based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Tony’s specialties include event & assignment photography, architecture & interiors, and travel & documentary work. Recent assignments include events in Vancouver, British Columbia, Whistler, British Columbia, Aspen, CO, Maui, Hawaii, Grand Cayman Islands, Naples, FL, Laguna Beach, CA, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, the Bahamas, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Paris, Switzerland (Basel & Geneva), and Australia. Tony was Governor Bill Richardson's official photographer for the Border Governors' Conference and was the official photographer for the Western Governors' Conference in 2004.

His fine art work has been featured in numerous galleries on Cape Cod (Provincetown, Wellfleet, Orleans, Chatham), and in Boston and Santa Fe. He was the recipient of the prestigious Leo Diehl Award at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham, Massachusetts in 1989. Tony was the feature artist of the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in 1990 & 1991.

Tony maintains a state of the art digital imaging studio in Santa Fe. He is a Board member of the American Society of Media Photographers.

Santa Fe Anti-Drilling March - Dec 8, 2007 : Perhaps 100 (maybe more) marchers braved the cold and wet early on the morning of December 8, 2007 to peacefully demonstrate their opposition to the proposed oil / gas drilling and exploration in Santa Fe County. The marchers assembled at the Federal Courthouse and proceeded through the streets to the historic Plaza.

Santa Fe County Oil Drilling - Meeting with Officials : Photos of the public meeting with State and County officials held on November 15, 2007, at the Eldorado Elementary School. The Meeting was attended by all the County Commissioners and was facilitated by State Representative Peter Wirth and County Commissioner, District 5, Jack Sullivan. Also participating was the New Mexico Secretary of Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources, Joanna Prukop, and numerous State & County staff and officials. Over 600 citizens of Santa Fe County participated in a passionate and intense Q&A session along with presentations from State & County officials. The message was loud and clear from the audience: NO OIL & GAS Exploration / Excavation in Santa Fe County!!

Santa Fe County Oil Drilling - Meeting with Officials

Santa Fe County Oil Drilling - Public Meeting with Tecton : Photos of the contentious public meeting held on November 1, 2007 by Tecton Energy, LLC, a gas & oil exploration company. The company has drilled one test well. Tecton is currently pursuing the permitting process to drill numerous additional wells on private lands in the pristine Galisteo Basin, an area known for its rich cultural heritage, wildlife, unspoiled landscapes, and archeological resources. And it is not just the Galisteo Basin. Tecton has obtained the subsurface mineral leases to more than 65,000 acres of Santa Fe County extending from Nambe to Cerrillos. If Tecton is successful in obtaining the necessary permits through the State and County, then the landowners are powerless to stop them. We can thank the atrocious and antiquated Mining Act of 1872 in part for this mess. Approximately 450 angry Santa Fe County residents filled the meeting room and spilled out onto the patio. The message from the Citizens was loud and clear.

Santa Fe Film Fesitval Honors Dean Stockwell : The Santa Fe Film Festival honored Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winner film and television actor Dean Stockwell at a tribute benefit on November 17, 2007 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The tribute reception followed a viewing of 3 of Mr. Stockwell's films at The Film Center.

Santa Fe Film Festival Honors Mr. Lynn Stalmaster : The Santa Fe Film Festival honored legendary Casting Director Mr. Lynn Stalmaster after a public viewing of The Right Stuff, one of the hundreds of great films that Mr. Stalmaster cast. After the public viewing and award presentation, guests proceeded to a wonderful benefit dinner and party hosted by Katie and Jerry Peters at their residence in Santa Fe. Proceeds from the benefit will go to the non-profit Santa Fe Film Festival.

Barkin' Ball 2007 :
Photos from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society's 2007 Barkin' Ball. Ali MacGraw was the Special Guest Host. The event took place at the Eldorado Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on October 13, 2007. Funds raised from the event benefit the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society. Activities included a silent auction, dinner, a live auction and a parade of canine guests.

College of Santa Fe Red Carpet Gala - 2007 :
Sunday, February 25, 2007. The College of Santa Fe's 16th Annual Red Carpet Gala. Guests dressed up in their most glamorous attire and enjoyed an evening of superb food, libations, and a silent auction filled with exceptional art, jewelry, and temptations. Large viewing screens displayed a live broadcast of Hollywood's 79th Annual Academy Awards. Tickets ranged from $150 to $10,000 for a Gold Table Sponsor. All the proceeds from the Red Carpet Gala benefit the College of Santa Fe's scholarship programs. New Mexico State Senator Luciano "Lucky" Varela, a graduate of the College of Santa Fe, was honored at this year's Red Carpet Gala.

Gallery LouLou Classic Rock Photography Opening :
One of the most incredible gallery openings to ever take place in Taos, New Mexico, occurred Friday night, December 15, 2006 at Gallery LouLou. The three greatest classic rock & roll photographers ever; Jim Marshall, Baron Wolman, and Michael Zagaris had some of their best vintage prints on display. Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Bob Dylan, and on and on.. The BACK STAGE PASS exhibition opening reception was a party to be remembered. Approx 300-400 fans (and groupies) from as far away as London descended on Gallery LouLou for the opening reception and party. I was asked to be the official photographer for the event and these are some of the images from this memorable happening. ENJOY! The show will be up through January 31, 2007.

2005 Santa Fe Heart Gallery :
The Heart Gallery originated in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It began as the vision of adoptive mother and professional photographer Cathy Maier Callanan. It became a reality through Diane Granito and the New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department. The Heart Gallery has now spread to over 40 cities throughout the US. Many accomplished professional photographers have donated their talent and energy to photograph a child available for adoption in the hope that the Heart Gallery show will increase the chances of the child being adopted and having a home.

Every child deserves a home.

These are candid photos of community supporters, sponsors, Heart Gallery staff, photographers and guests. All photos were taken during the benefit showing on December 8th, 2005 and during the main public show on December 9th, 2005. The Santa Fe Heart Gallery has been supported since its inception by the Gerald Peters Gallery in Santa Fe.

Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe 2005 Benefit - The World of Words :
Reading empowers people to achieve their goals and participate fully in the community, Literacy Volunteers strives to provde free, quality tutoring and encouragement for all who want to learn to read, write and speak English

Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe (LVSF) is a non-profit organization established in 1985. Because of the great demand for literacy services in the area, the program has grown to support the work of more than 150 volunteer tutors working with more than 800 students annually. 2005 marked the 20th anniversary of literacy education in Santa Fe. September 24, 2005, a day proclaimed Literacy Education Day for all of New Mexico, was also the day that a gala benefit was held at the Scottish Rite Temple. 20 authors participated from as far away as Ireland. These are some of the official LVSF benefit photographs.

Photos from the Second Annual Grand Prix de Santa Fe, May 28-29, 2005, Santa Fe Horse Park. The Grand Prix de Santa Fe is a world class event and showcase for the New Mexico equine industry and community. The proceeds of this year's event benefit the Santa Fe Equestars, dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding and equine activities to those with special physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.

Santa Fe Jazz & International Music Festival :
These images of Brazilian musicians Luciana Souza and Romero Lubambo were taken at the Lensic Theater on July 27, 2005. Their exquisite performance was one of many during the Santa Fe Jazz & International Music Festival. The Festival is one of the most prestigious musical events in the country bringing internationally acclaimed performers from all over the world. This year's festival ran from July 15th through July 31st.

Santa Fe Rotary Foundation's Distinguished Artist of the Year for 2005 is Elias Rivera, one of the region's most respected and admired painters. These photos were taken at a pre-award reception held at the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe on June 22, 2005.

CARYLL & BRIAN : October 21, 2006. A lovely couple, Caryll and Brian, exchange their vows and commit to a loving life together. Growth, adventure, and passion. Caryll Pearlman & Brian Blount are truly "renaissance" spirits beautifully matched. The wedding ceremony was presided over by the Mayor of the 7th District of Paris at the elegant Mairie du 7e arrondissement, 116 rue de Grenelle, in Paris. Friends and family from all the Continents were in attendance. After the ceremony, there was a sit down luncheon followed by dancing at La Maison des Polytechniciens in Paris.

Black Willow Ranch Party :
Saturday, July 2, 2005. Terry Brewer and Bob & Kay Anderson hosted a fabulous ranch party and Bar-B-Q over the Independence Day weekend at the Black Willow Ranch in Watrous, New Mexico. This spectacular ranch covers approximately 10,000 acres near the Old Santa Fe Trail not far from historic Fort Union. No one was doing any "official" photography, but I happened to have a couple of cameras with me, so Richard Jay (Jay Bird Aerial Photography), Mr. Abeyta, and I took a few snapshots. Enjoy !

On April 1, 2005, a Tsunami Relief Benefit program and auction was held at the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The event was organized by the Amma Center of New Mexico. Actress Ali McGraw hosted the activities. Over $50,000 was raised to benefit the Amma relief efforts in India and Sri Lanka.
